With each new generation, more young people are first being exposed to science, through social media platforms. Additionally, earth science and geology teaching has experienced a decline in school curricula in recent years, so there is a further need to provide access to effective, creative and engaging content online, to help grow an enthused next generation of geoscientists. The prospect of creating science social media can seem a daunting task in a world dominated by media creation, but we hope to dispel this in this workshop. Together, we will explore ways to smooth and simplify that process, and to make it fun for you as well as your intended audience. We will explore strategies for creating engaging geoscience content, and how to build your network, support, and audience. This workshop will be suitable for those completely new to social media creation, to experienced users looking explore new platforms and approaches.
